How FENTORA Works to Treat Breakthrough Cancer Pain
Only FENTORA uses OraVescent® Technology to distribute medicine to your body quickly and give you relief from breakthrough cancer pain. The tablet dissolves between your cheek and gum, in the buccal cavity of your mouth. About half of the medicine in FENTORA is absorbed through the lining of your mouth and into your bloodstream. The other portion gets swallowed and absorbed more slowly through your stomach and intestines, like the medicine in a pill.

As soon as the medicine enters the bloodstream, it’s carried throughout your body to relieve your pain. Some people may start to feel relief in as early as 15 minutes.
If a flare or episode of breakthrough pain is not relieved within 30 minutes, your healthcare professional may instruct you to take an additional dose. See the special instructions for taking an additional dose in the Medication Guide. You must wait at least 4 more hours before taking FENTORA for another flare of breakthrough pain. Your healthcare professional may instruct you to take ONLY 1 additional dose of FENTORA at this time.
